Our Client is a leader in the forestry and forest products industry with an outstanding record. They require a Senior Forester to join their professional team.
As Senior Forester you will report to the Area Manager and work with the Lead Forester leading the silvicultural activities, post cyclone reversion plans and fire prevention strategies. You will possess sound people management skills to engage and work with contractors and other key staff to achieve business goals for the region.
Practical skills in financial management are required to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Duties will include: Tropical forestry plantation establishment and maintenance whilst managing a contractor workforce, silviculture, land resource evaluation, timber harvesting planning, fire protection, & project management. Ensuring environmental management standards and stewardship certifications are met will also be a key part of the role.
You will work towards key performance indicators in each of the above areas and use your skills in the areas of leadership, people management, planning and forecasting to achieve desired results. A good understanding of ecologically sustainable forest management principles, forestry legislation and operational constraints is required.
You will have proven people management experience with good understanding of forestry practices, forestry operator licensing, contracts, OH&S standards and ensuring contractor compliance in these areas.
Minimum 5 years working in forestry, specifically plantation establishment & maintenance, GIS, GPS, project and contractor management, harvesting and hauling.
A remuneration package including a fully maintained company vehicle will be negotiated in line with candidate experience to attract quality foresters.
